REBEL SPORT JUNIOR PREMIER LEAGUE –Rnd 4 Review

GOLD Coast teams in the Rebel Sport Junior Premier League returned from Soccer Far North (NSW) with an impressive 100% record after every age group won their match.

The Under 13 girls were 3-0 victors, the Under 12 boys won 3-1, Under 13 boys got up 6-1, Under 14 boys were 2-1 winners and the Under 15 boys completed the rout, prevailing 2-0.

Gold Coast Soccer Director of Coaching, Pat Hedges, was obviously delighted to see a clean sweep of results, but picked out the Under 13 girls as the day’s top performers.

“The girls were brilliant and are potentially our best group,” Hedges said.

“The Under 13 boys were superb as well. They won 6-1 but in reality it could’ve been 10 to be honest and Blake Cearns could have had five goals on his own.

“All our groups did ever so well, but it’s our Under 15 boys who are perhaps the biggest improvers. They were comfortable 2-0 winners and haven’t dropped a game yet.”

The results continued and outstanding start for all the Gold Coast Soccer sides in the Junior Premier League and Hedges believes the Coast’s hi-tech development program is already bearing fruit.

“The program is working fantastically well. If an outsider had seen these players four months ago then come back to see them now, they would be amazed at the improvement in these groups,” he said.

“We’ve taken a far more holistic approach to how we train and prepare our young players with sports science techniques, etc, and it’s paying dividends.

“We are very lucky here at Gold Coast Soccer because we have a very proactive Board of Directors who are supporting what we’re trying to achieve and have secured some generous sponsors to assist with the funding of the program.

“The clubs have been fantastic as well and they are fully behind the concept. With that kind of unity and backing we have been given the ingredients for success.

“We’ve got everything working well off the field and as a consequence of that we’re seeing the results on the field.”
