Eddie Thompson School of Excellence Clinic coming soon

MAY 18th sees the start of the next ‘Eddie Thompson School of Excellence’ clinic for boys and girls aged between six and fourteen years old.
Held at the Carrara Stadium fields, the clinic will run every Sunday morning between 9.00am and 10.30am for six consecutive weeks, ending on June 22nd.
Priced at only $100 (which includes an Eddie Thompson t-shirt) for the entire duration of the clinic, it represents great value for youngsters wishing to hone their technical skills and have great fun at the same time.
“There is one coach to every twelve kids so they get excellent tuition from qualified coaches,” said Gold Coast Soccer Executive Chairman, Peter Gray.
“All the coaches are tutored by Technical Director and former Socceroo Assistant Coach, Les Scheinflug, and it is very professionally run. So far we’ve put around a thousand kids through the program and we are yet to receive a single complaint,” he added.
Named after the late Socceroos boss, the Eddie Thomson School of Excellence was established by Gold Coast Football to provide a high level of affordable coaching for players of all ages aimed at improving the individual skills of players and the standard of Junior Football.
It is the only centre of excellence of its type endorsed by Football Queensland in the Gold Coast region, underpinning Gold Coast Football’s regional representation programs and the ‘Identified Player’ coaching programs developed by Football Queensland.
“It’s skills training and if the coaches happen to spot a player who they believe has the right capabilities to be recommended for representative programs, then they will certainly do so,” said Gray.
The sessions end with a small-sided game so the youngsters can have an opportunity to apply what they have learned to an actual match.
