DOG & PARROT FA CUP SEMI-FINALS
Thu May 15 2008
GIANTKILLERS Kingscliff, who have accounted for Premier League outfits Burleigh Heads and Surfers Paradise in the last two rounds of the Dog & Parrot FA Cup, face their toughest test to date following the draw for the semi-finals of the competition.
At the end of this month, First Division Kingscliff will visit the free-scoring Gold Coast Knights with a place in the final and an opportunity to lift some coveted silverware at stake. Both sides are in top form and the gap in divisions between the two teams is likely to matter little on the day, especially with the firepower at the disposal of both coaches.
In the other semi-final Broadbeach Utd line up against one of the Premiership favourites, Palm Beach. Both had tough quarter-final wins with Broadbeach digging deep to secure a fine 3-2 away win against the previously unbeaten Musgrave and Palm Beach needing a late goal to eliminate Nerang.
Broadbeach’s cup win may just be the catalyst they needed to breathe life into their season and by the time this tie comes around Simon Kalaba’s side could well have the impetus their campaign has lacked thus far.
