Buffalo Sports Premier League Round 11 Preview

Fri Jun 27 2008

THE Buffalo Sports Premier League looks geared to become a four-way battle for title honours as the leaders begin to pull away from the chasing pack.

Topping the pile with games in hand are the Gold Coast Knights whose remarkable comeback last Sunday puts them in pole position. The Knights face bottom-of-the-table Mudgeeraba this Saturday in what looks certain to be another three points for John Stewart’s men.

Musgrave sit in second place due to their superior goal difference but share the same points total as both Burleigh Heads and this Friday’s opponents, Magic Utd.

Both Musgrave and Magic will see their Round 11 clash as a great chance to steal a march on their opponents and provide at least a week’s breathing space.

Burleigh Heads will have to wait until Sunday to arrest their alarming form dip but they will face a wounded foe in the shape of Broadbeach Utd. Having led 4-1, Broadbeach succumbed 5-4 to the Gold Coast Knights last weekend and Simon Kalaba’s troops will be focussed on proving they are top four material this time out.

In Saturday’s other clashes, Nerang take on Surfers Paradise who sprung the surprise of the season so far in Round 10 when they smashed five goals past a stunned Burleigh Heads. Back-to-back wins for Surfers would further ease their relegation worries and instil vital confidence for the tense run home towards the end of the season. Nerang on the other hand need the points to maintain any realistic hopes of competing for a top four place.

At Viney Park Coomera face the hot and cold Palm Beach and the outcome of this one depends much on which Palm Beach side turns up on Saturday night. On their day the Sharks are a match for any team in the league, but inconsistency has blighted their season so far. Despite their lowly ladder position, Coomera are one of the toughest teams to beat in the Buffalo Sports Premier League but just seven goals in nine games tells its own story.
