BUFFALO SPORTS PREMIER LEAGUE – Round 5 Preview
Fri May 2 2008
LEAGUE leaders Magic Utd will have Mudgeeraba in their sights this Saturday night at Carrara Stadium as they look to maintain their advantage at the top of the Buffalo Sports Premier League ladder.
Magic hold the lead by a single point and at this early stage of the campaign any loss of points could see Brett Budwee’s outfit overturned by the chasing pack.
Mudgeeraba won’t be short of confidence either after completing their first win of the season last week when they swept Nerang aside with a convincing 4-2 scoreline.
Nerang’s pain could continue if they can’t arrest their form slide with another of last week’s victors, Gold Coast Knights, who are Saturday’s visitors to Glennon Park. The Knights were surprise winners over an off-colour Burleigh Heads and will see this one as an ideal opportunity to record back-to-back wins.
Pizzey Park is likely to be the venue where the sparks will fly this Saturday night when Burleigh Heads host Palm Beach. Neither managed a win last time out and betting men would be putting their hard-earned on a draw in this head-to-head between two of the title favourites.
Coomera’s clash with Broadbeach Utd could be a crucial game for both sides, even at this early juncture. A first win of the season for Steve Beever’s Coomera will see them leapfrog Broadbeach and help them to relax in the coming weeks. Broadbeach on the other hand will be hoping to contest for a top four spot and if their aspirations are genuine a win is vital in this one.
Sunday sees the ever-improving Musgrave take on bottom side Surfers Paradise, whose dogged defensive performance last weekend earned them their first point this term.
Hard to see anything but a win for Musgrave here, but they may not find goals easy to come by if the visitors arrive with another rearguard action as their tactic of choice.
